Imatib-400-mg

Category:

Imatib-400 mg contains Imatinib, an oral anti-cancer medicine belonging to the class of tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs). It is widely used in the treatment of certain blood cancers and solid tumors by targeting specific abnormal proteins responsible for cancer cell growth.

Mechanism of Action

Imatinib works by selectively inhibiting abnormal tyrosine kinases, including:

  • BCR-ABL fusion protein (seen in chronic myeloid leukemia)
  • c-Kit (CD117) receptor
  • Platelet-Derived Growth Factor Receptors (PDGFR)

By blocking these enzymes, it:

  • Prevents cancer cell proliferation
  • Induces apoptosis (programmed cell death)
  • Inhibits tumor growth and progression
